The 180 year old Ascutney Mill Dam (Windsor Upper Dam) had become inoperable for the last 30 years. It’s Lower Level Outlet (LLO) had become blocked by the buildup of nearly two centuries of sediment deposits.
We dredged the sediments from the dam base, and treated and dewatered the sediments extracted. We then designed and built a 50 foot prefabricated limpet-style cofferdam, removed the old cast iron LLO gate, and replaced it with a new stainless steel one.
