Our Story
Built on Vision and Hard Work
Kingsbury began in 1978 with a dream, a John Deere 450 Dozer, and the dedication of founders Richard (Dick) and Laura Kingsbury. Starting out of their kitchen in Fayston, Vermont, they built a reputation for excellence, working with prominent clients like Sugarbush and the State of Vermont.
In 1998, the Kingsburys purchased Mad River Park, establishing their current maintenance shop and satellite offices. Their son, Travis (TJ) Kingsbury, followed in their footsteps, joining the family business at a young age and later earning a degree in Construction Management from Montana State University. After gaining experience on multimillion-dollar dam and water distribution projects nationwide, TJ Kingsbury returned to Vermont in 2003 and took the company to new heights.
In 2008, Travis founded Kingsbury Companies, LLC, extending its reach to a broader region of New England and positioning it as a leader in renewable energy and heavy-civil construction.
Today, Kingsbury thrives on its founding values of service, adaptability, efficiency, and honesty while continuing to innovate.
